Create categories with the mind map

The mind map in LessonUp is a particularly popular feature. Many teachers use it to activate their students' prior knowledge, which is valuable and effective!
Although the concept of a mind map is not new, LessonUp's digital version offers several advantages. All responses are saved, can be grouped and moved around.

After all students have entered their answers, you can display all their answers. You might consider filtering out some responses, but that's a personal choice.

Next, have your students work in pairs, possibly on paper, to create four imaginary categories (top-left, bottom-left, top-right, and bottom-right) that include as many answers as possible. This way, the entered responses are not just a few isolated words or phrases, but students learn to create connections between them.

After they've completed the assignment, you can ask one or more group/s to present their categories on the interactive whiteboard, and ask them to explain their choices.
