Answers within quiz questions

Using text, audio, images, and formulas as answer choices in a quiz.

Updated over a year ago

By default, the answer choices for quiz questions are automatically set to text, but there are more options available. For some time now, it has been possible to use formulas, and since recently, you can also use audio and images as answer choices. This allows you to introduce a wide range of variations and differentiation in your quiz questions and meet the diverse learning needs of your students. LessonUp can be effectively used, even in the lower grades of primary education, by using audio or image options instead of text.

How does it work?

When you create a quiz in LessonUp, you will see answer choices A to D. These are the fields where you would typically type words or phrases. Instead of typing something, you could click on the cogwheel. This will reveal four different options to choose from.

From left to right, the icons represent the following answer choices: text, formula, audio, and image.

If you want to use a quiz question with images as answer choices, it will look like this:

The icon with the magnifying glass allows you to show the enlarged images on the interactive whiteboard or, in the case of a remote shared lesson, on students' devices.

If you choose for audio, it will look like this:

However, you can use multiple answer options next to each other within the same quiz.

An additional tip for foreign language or Dutch language teachers: are you looking for short phrases or words spoken by native speakers? Have a look at the website forvo.com. Here, you'll find thousands of audio clips that you can download as MP3 files. You can upload these files in LessonUp and use them as answers for your quiz!
