Not only has the lesson editor been completely revamped, the environment in which you teach your lesson also has a new design and new functionalities. In this article, we explain what is updated and how it works.
Teaching from the classic environment vs the new environment
The biggest difference is the number of functionalities visible while teaching. We have made sure that the screen in which you teach is quieter, so that all the focus is on your lesson. A new functionality has been added: Slides. When you click on ‘Slides’, you see an overview of the slides in your lesson and you can navigate directly to a slide.
🛠️ A new version of the teaching screen is coming soon.
How does teaching from the new lesson editor work
Step 1: Click on ‘Teach lesson’
Nothing has changed about this step. Click ‘Teach’ from the lesson editor or right-click on a lesson in My LessonUp and click ‘Teach’ there.
Step 2: Let students participate
By clicking on ‘Students’ you can see which students joined your lesson. Students can participate via the pin code that is always visible at the top left of the screen in which you are teaching or in the pop-up that appears when you click 'Students’. This pop-up also contains a large QR code that students can scan to participate in the lesson.
Closing the pin code
This functionality can also be found when you click on ‘Students’. Tick or untick ‘Allow new participants’. When this box is unticked, students can not join your lesson. All students who already joined, stay in the lesson.
Step 3: Navigating within your lesson
You can still navigate with your pointer, arrow keys or by clicking ‘Previous’ and ‘Next’ on the board. Navigating is now also possible by clicking on ‘Slides' and navigating to a slide of your choice.
🛠️ Other settings (in development)
Not all settings you are used to are yet available in the new version of the screen in which you teach. Functionalities such as sound, show for student, drawing and hand raising are not (yet) available. The settings that are available can be found at ‘Settings’ while teaching.
