As introduced in our blog post, the New Lesson Editor supports the option to import & edit your Powerpoint lessons. Read how this works and what the possibilities are in this article.
Import your Powerpoint file
From the My LessonUp page, click on the "+ New Lesson" button. The first time you click on this button, after the launch of the new Lesson Editor, you will see a popup that shows the benefits of using the Classic versus New Editor. You can choose in which Editor you want to create your lesson, but can also choose this in the next step.
In the next step, the popup window offers the ability to choose whether you want to create your lesson in the Classic and New Editor on the left side of the screen. For the Classic Editor, you have the option to create a lesson from scratch, for the New Editor you have the option to:
Create a lesson from scratch
Create a lesson with AI-assistant Maia
Create a lesson, based on an existing Powerpoint
When you choose to import a lesson based on your Powerpoint file, a button to import your Powerpoint file will appear. Choose a Powerpoint file from your Computer and give your lesson a name in the "Lesson Title" input field. By default, the name of your lesson corresponds with the name of your Powerpoint file.
After choosing your file and lesson name, click on the "Import lesson" button.
After choosing your Powerpoint file it will be uploaded and imported into LessonUp. At the bottom right of the screen a message and loader will appear to highlight when your lesson is ready to be used. Click on the "Open lesson" button after importing your lesson is done.
Edit your lesson
When you open your imported Powerpoint file in the New Lesson Editor, you are able to edit your slides and add interactivity to your lesson. While the Powerpoint import feature is still in Beta as we are improving its functionalities, not all components of your original Powerpoint file will be completely customisable. Components, like a graph or table, will be shown as static images so you can still resize and move them on your slides.
Supported components

Other Powerpoint features
Other main features that Powerpoint supports, but are not (yet) supported in the New Lesson Editor are:
Background gradients
Gradients are not (yet) supported in the new editor.
Themes & layouts
If you use a theme or layout in your Powerpoint, LessonUp will extract the colours and images and use them in your slides to have visually similar slides in your lesson. The new lesson editor does not support editing and managing your own theme and layout.
Slide and component animations
Any slide or component animations in your Powerpoint will not be available in LessonUp. We have plans to support animations at a later stage in the new editor.
