Create a lesson with AI

Updated over a week ago

You can easily create a complete interactive lesson with the help of LessonUp’s AI tools. The AI helps you generate an entire lesson, including background colours, images, and structure; based on just a short piece of text or existing material.

How it works

  1. Go to AI tools of LessonUp
Click AI tools in the blue navigation bar at the top of your screen.
You’ll see an overview of all available tools, such as Summarise text, Create rubric, and Create lesson.

  2. Select ‘Create lesson’
This option lets you generate a new lesson with the help of AI.

  3. Choose how to create your lesson
    You’ll see two options:

    • Based on text – use a short prompt to describe what your lesson should cover.

    • Based on image – use an image with text (like notes, articles, or screenshots) to create a lesson.

👉 In this example, we’ll choose text.

  4. Decide how you want to add your text

    • Write a prompt: briefly describe the content, topic, and learning goals of your lesson.

    • Paste text: use a longer piece of text, for example from Wikipedia, a newspaper article, or an existing document.

  5. Write your prompt
Type your own prompt or use one of the example prompts shown below.
💡 The more specific your description and keywords, the better your results!

  6. Adjust your settings
    Choose your preferences, such as:

    • Language of the lesson

    • Educational level (optional)

    • Number of slides (up to 20)

    • Whether to include prior knowledge and/or an exit ticket

  7. Click ‘Create lesson’
The AI will start generating your lesson automatically.

  8. View your result
Within seconds, a full lesson appears, complete with matching background colours, images, and text.

  9. Always review your content
Carefully check your lesson for accuracy and suitability before using it with your class. You can easily edit or adjust any part of the generated slides.
