Inserting and/or modifying a background image

Editing the background of your slides.

Updated over a year ago

A beautiful background image is a powerful tool to use in your lesson. It grabs attention, and students are immediately immersed in the lesson. However, the downside is that text over the image can sometimes be difficult to read. By adjusting the transparency and colour, you can make the text more visible.

Step 1

Click on the 'Image' button (not in the Component drop down) to add a background image to your lesson.

Step 2

Determine the transparency level of the image, considering the readability of the text. A black background with 50% transparency works well: the white letters are clearly legible.

Step 3

As the image becomes transparent, you'll see the background colour through it. This allows you to further customise your lesson to your layout preferences.

Pro-tip!

You can create a nice effect by adding a Text component over the same image but with different (or no) transparency to the slide.
