Sharing a lesson with classes in the new lesson editor

With the new lesson editor in LessonUp, you can share a lesson directly with your classes. This allows you to set assignments for your students so they can work through the lesson independently at their own pace.

Step 1: Open a lesson and click 'Share'

Open the desired lesson in the new lesson editor. Click the 'Share' button in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

Step 2: Select 'Students'

A menu will appear with different options for sharing your lesson:

  • Colleagues: To share your lesson via a link with other teachers.

  • Students: To share the lesson via a link or assign it directly to a class.

  • Or export as PDF: To download the lesson.

Click 'Students' to proceed with assigning it to your class.

Step 3: View history or click '+ Share lesson'

You will now see the 'Share with students' overview. On this screen, you can immediately see who you have previously shared this lesson with and when.

To share the lesson with a (new) class, click the blue '+ Share lesson' button at the top.

Step 4: Choose how you want to share

On this screen, give the lesson the desired name and optionally add a message or instruction for your students (for example: "Complete this lesson for homework").

Under 'How would you like to share?', you have two options:

  1. Share a link: Anyone who receives the link can complete the assignment.

  2. Share with a class: Only students in the selected classes can complete the assignment.

Step 5: Select the class(es)

Tick the box next to the class or classes that should receive the lesson. You can also use the search bar at the top to quickly find a specific class.

Then click 'Share with [number] class(es)' in the bottom right-hand corner.

Step 6: Manage the shared lesson

After sharing, you can view and adjust the assignment settings at any time:

  • Add or edit message: Type an instruction for your students and click 'Save'.

  • Copy link: Copy the direct link to the assignment to share via another channel.

  • Open for students: Toggle the switch 'On' or 'Off' to open or close access to the lesson immediately for students.

  • View results: Click this to track progress and view student responses.
