Using colors in your lesson

Using the right colors helps you add structure and style to your lesson. In LessonUp, you can work with theme colors, standard colors, or add your own unique custom colors.

Changing the color of an element

In the editor, click on the element (text box, shape, or interactive button) you wish to recolor. The color menu will open immediately:

  • Theme colors: At the top, you will find the colors linked to your selected theme. Using these ensures a consistent look throughout your entire lesson. [Read more about themes here.](link to article)

  • Standard colors: Below the theme colors, you’ll find a selection of commonly used basic colors.

Adding a custom color (HEX code)

Can’t find the exact color you’re looking for? Click on 'Custom'. Here, you can manually enter a hexadecimal color code (e.g., #FF5733). This is perfect for matching your school’s specific branding or house style.

Using the color picker (Eye dropper)

Do you want to use a color that is already visible on your slide, but you don't know the exact color code? Use the color picker:

  1. Select the element you want to change.

  2. Click on the eye dropper icon.

  3. Hover over the desired color on your slide and click to apply it.

Tip: The hexadecimal code is automatically generated and displayed. You can copy this code to use the exact same color in your other lessons.
