What does this AI tool do?
The Create Assignment AI tool helps you design suitable tasks that match your learning goals, lesson content, or a chosen topic. You decide the type, length, format and level and the AI generates a full assignment accordingly.
It’s ideal for saving preparation time, differentiating tasks, and gaining inspiration for effective lesson design.
How does it work?
1. Choose your input: a lesson or topic
Open the AI tool 'Create assignment'. You have two options:
Existing LessonUp lesson
Paste the link to your LessonUp lesson (e.g.https://www.lessonup.com/app/lesson/xxxxxxx/). The AI will scan its content to generate a matching task.
Your own topic
Type a subject like The French Revolution, Photosynthesis, or Digital Wellbeing.
💡 Tip: Be specific. The more focused your input, the more relevant the assignment.
2. Select the educational level
This allows the AI to adjust the tone, vocabulary and cognitive level – from primary to higher education.
3. Choose the assignment type
Select one of the following:
Individual
Group
Homework
This influences the tone and structure of the task description.
4. Decide on the expected duration
Choose how long students should spend on the task:
10 minutes
30 minutes
60 minutes
90 minutes
This helps the AI tailor the scope and depth of the task.
5. Tick allowed resources
Indicate which tools students are allowed to use: internet, textbooks, calculator, etc. The assignment will be adapted accordingly.
6. Choose one or more task formats
Select the expected form of the assignment:

Presentation
Mood board
Practical
Multiple choice
Open format
Short answer
The AI will build the task based on your preferred formats.
7. (Optional) Add a learning objective
State what students should learn or demonstrate, e.g.
“Demonstrate how human activities influence climate change.”
The AI will include this in the assignment design.
8. (Optional) Choose a language
Need the assignment in English, Dutch, or another language? Choose your preferred output language – perfect for language teaching or multilingual groups.
9. Click “Create Assignment”
The AI will instantly generate a complete assignment that you can use, copy or edit to suit your lesson.
