Adapt any text to the right tone, level or language – tailored for your students.
What does this AI tool do?
The Rewrite Text AI tool helps you transform any text into a different tone, style, level or language – all with just a few clicks. Whether you need to simplify a text, make it more persuasive, or rewrite it for a specific audience, this tool does the work for you.
Perfect for:
adjusting texts for different reading levels,
changing the tone of voice (e.g. from formal to informal),
adapting content for a different language or context.
How does it work?
1. Paste the text you want to rewrite
Open the AI-tool 'Rewrite text' in LessonUp. Paste the original text into the input field. This can be anything: a paragraph, an explanation, a definition, or a short story.
2. Describe how you want the text to be rewritten
This is where you tell the AI what you need. Examples:
Simplify for Year 7
Make it sound persuasive
Rewrite in a formal tone
Turn it into a question for discussion
Make it sound like Shakespeare!
The AI will follow your instruction as closely as possible.
3. (Optional) Choose the educational level
Select a level such as:
Primary (KS1–KS2)
Secondary (KS3–KS5)
Vocational or Higher Education
Special Education (e.g. EAL, ISK, SEN)
This helps the AI tailor vocabulary, sentence structure and tone.
4. (Optional) Choose a target language
You can have the rewritten text translated at the same time. For example:
Rewrite a Dutch text in English (UK) or French
Rewrite and simplify an English text in Dutch
5. Click “Rewrite text”
The AI will rewrite the text according to your instructions, keeping the original meaning but changing the form and tone to match your needs.
You can copy, edit or use the rewritten version straight away in your lesson.
Example
Original text:
“Photosynthesis is the process by which plants use sunlight to produce their own food.”
Instruction:
Make it suitable for a Year 5 class, in a friendly tone.
